“Well, for starters, balloons have always freaked me out.
Like, here, happy birthday, here lies a plastic pouch of my breath.”

Liv Mabrey (@livmabrey) is what I like to call a triple threat. No, she’s not preparing for the theater, but she is gorgeous, smart, and hilarious to boot. This wise-cracker is currently double majoring in American Sign Language and Psychology at Northeastern and spends most of her extra time involving herself with the Deaf Community in the Boston area. Okay so maybe she’s a quadruple threat? Most of her spare time goes into freelance photography and design which she has a clear talent for.

What’s your favorite outfit you’ve ever worn?
That’s tough. I won’t buy something unless I want to marry it, so it’s hard to choose. I’m not sure if this counts as an “outfit” per say but a couple weeks ago at a celebrity-themed party I dressed as Miley Cyrus in her Wrecking Ball video (the parts where she’s clothed) and it was an absolute hit.

Running around with two alien buns on the top of your head in a white crop top, white baby briefs and Doc Martens is a truly liberating fashion experience and I hope everyone gets to experience doing so at least once in their life.

How would you describe your style?
Apparently “hot mess” doesn’t qualify as a real style so I’m going to go off what my friends say about me. “Urban bohemian with a chic twist” is how they described it. Is that even a thing? I don’t know.

I shop wherever for whatever looks good. This autumn, as with all autumns, I’m really getting back into all black everything, because you can never go wrong with all black everything.

Tell us 3 random things about yourself.
1. I eat more Taco Bell in one week than three average people do in their lifetime.

2. Well, for starters, balloons have always freaked me out. Like, here, happy birthday, here lies a plastic pouch of my breath.

3. Alexander Graham Bell is one of my least favorite historical figures. If he were around today I would punch him in the face and cut off his ugly beard and make him eat it.

What inspires your photography?
I love capturing moments that often go unseen or don’t happen very often, which is why I always have a camera on me. I’m inspired by unique colors, shapes and patterns. I’m mostly interested in taking photos that are aesthetically pleasing that contain meaningful content, but are also minimal as possible.

Did you ever think about pursuing photography as a career?
It’ll always be something I’m extremely passionate about and get a huge rush from. I’ll take a night of shooting and editing over a night of going out with friends almost any night.

But at this point, my studies in ASL and Deaf Culture as well as my involvement in the Deaf Community have become such an incredible part of my life and I don’t know if I could ever put anything else before it. I feel incredibly lucky to know that there’s a broad range of things I’m talented at and passionate about that I could potentially pursue as a career, but as for right now, an ASL Interpreter and Deaf Social Worker is what I’m working towards.

Describe your favorite place in the world.
I’m not sure if this place is real, but if it were up to me it’d be an open Taco Bell bar that runs 24/7 right outside my apartment and there’d be a Baja Blast fountain and 2 Chainz would be swimming and performing in it.

If anyone knows where I can find this place let me know.

List the things currently in your handbag.
I could open a small Burt’s Bees stand on the side of the road if I dumped everything out of my bag right now onto a table. And if I were ever stranded in the woods, I could probably start a small fire with all the old receipts and empty sugar packets.

Other than that there’s a 99% eaten pack of gum, approximately 17 Halloween edition hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works, car keys, and wallet.

What’s something you’re looking forward to Instagraming right now?
I’ve been really into minimalism lately and am currently working on a conceptual photo series with my four roommates. I’ve chosen a theme for each photo that reflects their character and personality using very minimal details. In one of the shots, my roommates’ hair is wrapped in little twigs and there’s body paint involved.

It’s going to be awesome.
